Outreach/Clinic RNEC Nurse Practitioner (0.8 FTE)

The Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health is an award-winning Health Access Centre that provides holistic primary health care to First Nation, Métis and Inuit people living in Ottawa - one of the fastest growing and diverse urban Aboriginal communities in Canada. Wabano is a fast-paced, client-oriented organization that models the Aboriginal values of balance, respect and community interdependence.

As a RNEC Nurse Practitioner currently registered in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses in Ontario, and membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and the Nurse Practitioners’ Association of Ontario, you will want to consider this exceptional opportunity.

The RNEC NP will:

  • Function as a member of the multi-disciplinary Health Team (including Elders, Physicians, counsellors, dietitian, traditional teachers, chiropodist, chiropractor and other RNEC NP’s)
  • Provide holistic primary health care to urban First Nation, Métis and Inuit clients
  • Work in an environment that honours the wisdom of Aboriginal beliefs, cultures and traditions.
  • Provide clinical consultation to &/or work in collaboration with Family Physicians.

Qualifications:

  • Degree from an approved school of nursing
  • Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses in Ontario
  • Current membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and the Nurse Practitioners’ Association of Ontario
  • Three to Five years experience of broad-based nursing experience with at least two years in primary health care, including working with clients throughout the life cycle and across the wellness-to-illness continuum
  • Experience as an Outreach Nurse Practitioner considered an asset.
