Volunteer Opportunities at Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health
Wabano relies on the generosity of volunteers to assist us with our various programs and events. Whether you are a student looking for an ongoing co-op placement, or you have just a few hours to lend a hand, we welcome the chance to discuss our volunteer opportunities with you.
In order to match you with a suitable activity, we require that you complete the following steps prior to volunteer placement:
1. Interview and Application
During the interview, we will discuss the various volunteer opportunities available in order to best match your interests, needs and skill level. You will be given a tour of the Wabano Centre and learn about different programs and services. You will be asked to complete an application form that includes your schedule of availability and contact information.
2. Criminal Records Check
To ensure the safety of clients and staff, we request that each volunteer submit a criminal records check. This procedure is standard for all volunteers who have access to vulnerable populations i.e. children, youth and seniors. The criminal records check is available through your local police station.
We look forward to meeting with you. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Elena Abel at (613) 748-0657 ext 208 or email eabel@wabano.com
